The Canon Ef-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 is a small, light and affordable telephoto zoom lens with an impressive focal distance range. This telephoto lens is more than suitable for every day needs, but because it is an "Ef-S" lens it is worth mentioning that it can only work on a aps-c/1.6x body, so just make sure it fits your camera if your reasoning of purchasing this lens.
This is more or less an entry level zoom, there are also others out there as well and like them the build quality on the Canon Ef-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 isn't exquisite but for daily use its more than adequate. The focus ring isn't very flat but it is by no means terrible on the other hand the zoom ring is pretty good and allows flat transitions throughout the zoom ranges.
The autofocus speed on this lens is relatively slow so if you were reasoning of shooting sports with this lens you will want to look at a different lens, however for slow spirited objects this isn't a problem, this is also helped out by the f4-f5.6 cleft which gives a large depth of field.

An exquisite highlight of this lens is the image stabilisation which allows you to minimise the estimate of camera shake, this is especially beneficial when shooting at the higher zoom range.
The sharpness of the lens isn't great, the centre point is good but as you get additional out the image tends to come to be a lot softer. Keeping your field in the centre of the image will allow the sharpest results but we all know that having the field in the centre of the image does nothing for our mixture of the photo most of the time.
Overall the Canon Ef-S 55-250mm f/4.0-5.6 is an affordable zoom lens for the beginner photographer, however if you want a much better lens and you're willing to spend a exiguous extra I would advise the Canon 70-200mm f4l lens which is part of their professional series of lenses. however if you're seeing for an cheap zoom lens which is light to carry and has image stabilisation then this may be the lens for you.

Build Quality
The build quality of the 50mm 1.8 feels pretty cheap and doesn't feel like a quality lens at all. all from the outer shell to the mount is made from plastic which will wear and tear if you're changing this lens around a lot. The 50mm is canons lightest lens and because of this the plastic doesn't have to be that strong to hold all together.

There is not much to this lens, you have one switch which controls whether you want to shoot in auto or hand-operated focus and there's also a focusing ring which is barely usable because of its small size.
The autofocus on the 50mm f1.8 is pretty fast but not Hsm (Hyper Sonic Motor) fast; any way for under 0 you can't truly expect it to have this feature. The autofocus is also a wee bit noisy but not unbearable by any means and probably wont put any one of from using this lens.
Image Quality
You may be thinking at this time that the lens sounds terrible and I would have to agree, any way the redeeming feature of this lens is that the image quality is very sharp, even stopped down to 1.8 the sharpness of this lens is exquisite but shooting from 2.8 or a wee above will give you even sharper images, slightly even sharper than Canons professional lens the 24-70mm f2.8 which retails for around 00.
Another redeeming feature is the Bokeh corollary that you can get from shooting at a small F stop of f1.8. If you have ever wondered how the professional photographers get those blurry backgrounds then this is one of the main ways they do this. The Bokeh on the 50mm 1.8 is excellent, obviously it is not as good as the f1.2 any way the f1.8 is 0 cheaper.
Another advantage of using the 50mm 1.8 is that it has a 52mm filter size, filters this small are very affordable and you should get one to protect your lens from scratches and even cracks in the front glass.
Conclusion
Overall the Canon Ef 50mm f1.8 camera lens is an exquisite upgrade from the kit lens or favorable for whatever wanting to shoot low light photography such as in a church, gym or even music concerts where flash isn't allowed. Sure there are draw backs to this lens but the advantages outweigh them, and I don't know of a great lens for 3 to 4 times the price.
